How to kill sockets?

Hello all

Is there a way I can 'kill' a socket like how I kill a process?

I started ssh from my office computer to home. The network then went
down, so I know the connection must be dead. However, at home, when I
run netstat I can still see my ssh connection as ESTABLISHED.

How do I get rid of that?

Thanks very much in advance.

Regards
Kevin
