Strange problem with KDE 3.2

I just got into linux quite heavily. I'm still a newbie but I've
learned a lot in the last week. I installed Debian Sarge and KDE 3.2
and I'm getting a problem with the Konsole. It works fine in root but
in regular user mode all I get is a blinking cursor. I can bring more
console tabs up also with blinking cursors. I thought it might be the
permissions on either Konsole or Bash but after giving everyone rwx
access I still have this problem. I don't like having to run my stuff
under root but without a Console that will really limit further learning
Linux. And I like KDE's so far the most.

Any ideas? Thanks 8-)
