Oh, well then that complicates things. :-/

You might try figuring out terminfo. I've never needed to
mess with it, but I did some looking around, mostly man
pages, and couldn't find a simple way to make modifications
to what is installed.

In the Good Old Days(tm), we could modify /etc/termcap with
vi at least.
