Hi there,
I have a SuSE 9.0 system that I am using as a syslog server.
I have syslogd starting with the -r option to listen for syslog messages from clients.
These clients could be all over the world with real long FQDNs so I would just like the messages to show the originating IP instead
of the long FQDN.
I've googled until I'm blue in the face but can't find any way to do this.
I've tried:
/sbin/syslog -r -l *.net,*.com
but it did not make a difference from a client that got a ...net FQDN
Can anybody help me?
Is there some reason this would not be smart?
Thanks in advance,
Shanon
