I'm trying to set up Pan from my office computer so I can check my
groups (mostly rec. groups but also some comp. groups). Trouble is
I'm totally lost since I know next to nothign about networking. Until
recentrly i was using Google groups, but it's become too tedius to
post something abd have to wait nine hours + to see a responce. SO i
wanted to use Pan. But I have no idea how to go about setting it up
and there's no man page and no online manual.
There IS an online setup for students in biffalo new yourk, but that's
not doing me much good. basically I just need the easiest access set
up. Intuitively I suspect that it has to do with the News Server
option. It wants a name, address, and port to begin with and all i
can give it is a name and that's not important as far as I can tell.
but I don't actually have an address or port to give it. How do I
find them?
Then it wants to know whether my server requires a password. Well how
do i know? I've never used it barring the access I can get through
aol or google.
Help? Anyone?
later,
~joe
