Hello All,
I've got a redhat 8.0 machine I've had hanging out on the web from my house
for several years. It does web/ftp/email etc. A few friends have email
accounts on it. I want to upgrade to a newer machine. I've got the new box
setup, most apps moved over etc. What is the best way to move my user
accounts over? I can copy their home dirs easy enough. Authentication is
the trick. Both boxes use rehat default, pam I think, with shadow
passwords? I think I need to copy over /etc/passwd and etc/shadow. Is it
that easy or will I screw things up by overwriting the existing files?
Anybody know of a readme on this, surely it's not that uncommon a thing to
do.
Thanks
Dave
