Take a look at the ASUS WL-330G. It is a "self-contained" combination
wireless access point/wireless adapter. I am using it as an adapter on a
dual-booted Windows XP/Mandrake 9.2 box on my home wireless network. It
connects to the workstation with a normal Ethernet networking cable, and
to the workstation, it just looks like a network connection. Getting it to
work was a piece of cake: configure it with the included Windows software
(not drivers), reboot under Linux and you're connected. It also includes a
Web-based configuration capability that IMHO is actually better than the
Windows configuration app. You should be able to use that on boxes running
just Linux.
It is one of the slickest little pieces of hardware I've ever seen!
