I would try starting a shell as the initial process to start with or maybe
use some single user scripts which don't require authentication. Once you
can boot the system and get a shell, then I would look at implementing
login.

This google search took a mere .23 seconds and gives numerous
methods of accomplishing the deed. Only took me 30 seconds or so to
formulate the search and that included firing up the browser...
