Hi,
I was hoping that by now ATA100 would be a given, a nothing-out-of-
the-ordinary thing. But RedHat 9 does not see the drive connected
to the ATA100 bus on my ASUS A7V motherboard (the Promise ATA100
controller comes with the motherboard, and after some struggling,
I could make Windows 2000 see the drive).
The instructions that come with the motherboard's CD talk about
recompiling the kernel to add the required support -- but the
patches they provide are only for RedHat 6.1 and 6.2 (that was
kernel 2.2, if I remember correctly, so I wouldn't expect them
to work with RedHat 9).
Any solutions currently available? (would I be asking too much
if I wanted to do it without having to recompile the kernel?)
Thanks!
Carlos
