I know little of networking on a LAN, but I know a lot about SuSE in
general. The LiveEval is supposed to boot and run from the CD. The point
is to see if SuSE 8.2 will run on the machine in question. Set your BIOS
to boot from CD, if the option exists. If not, you may be able to make a
boot floppy using rawrite from the SuSE CD (instructions say something
about copying the EXE to your system, then copying the "boot image" to a
floppy).

Those machines are a bit old for both Win98 and might be difficult for
SuSE 8.2, unless you install without the X-server (GUI). The second will
almost certainly not run the GUI for lack of RAM. There is an option of
a server installation that excludes the GUI, but it's best if you read
the documentation on the CD first. The initial learning curve is steep.
However, if you really want it, you can be sure you'll never see a blue
screen of death (BSOD) again on your servers. Someone out there is still
running his ancient version of Linux non-stop since 20 years ago, I hear.
