Hi,
I'm using Debian unstable and have the following problem.
I have 2 harddisks but 1 (/dev/hda) is starting to display weird
behaviour. My second hd (/dev/hdb) was still empty, so i fdisked
it to LVM and copied all exisiting partitions over from /dev/hda.
This includes /, /home, /var/, /usr and /tmp. They are now situated
on /dev/main/lv_root,/dev/main/lv_var,/dev/main/lv_usr,
/dev/main/lv_home and /dev/main/lv_tmp.
So far so good but GRUB is still installed on the MBR of /dev/hda
and i want to remove /dev/hda.
Installing grub to /dev/hdb isn't going to be a problem.
(/dev/hdb wil then become /dev/hda after i remove the failing
/dev/hda)
But the boot partition on /dev/hdb is also in LVM and thus the
initrd-lvm image is also on the LVM partition.
1. Is it possible to have grub read stuff from an lvm parition or
will i have to make a non lvm partition just to place the boot
partition on so grub can reach the initrd-lvm image?
2. In the case that i have to make a non lvm partition: i already
made the whole /dev/hdb as lvm. Can i resize it with fdisk and
not lose any data and then make a /boot parition on the end of
the disk? I suppose i will have to let lvm know that it has to
resize the lvm volume group? How do i do that?
Thanks for any info
