Hello,
I am trying to install a new kernel on my Woody.
The default kernel is 2.2.20 and I want a 2.4 based kernel.
None can boot, I always get the same message:
"can't mount root fs" and then "Kernel panic".
I tried to use several ways:
- to download a new one from the debian website
- compile a new one
- compile a new one with make-kpkg
I am sure I have everything I need in my .config.
I tried to build a new kernel without modules.
Sometimes the error message talks about msdos ...
The only way I can boot from hardrive is to use the 2.2.20 kernel with
"rescue root=/dev/hda6".
I am using lilo and have XP installed.
Any clue?
Regards
