I am running old Mandrake 9.1 (yes don't shoot me I used it on impulse
and have been suffering enough from it's poor design) anyhow, it uses
devfsd, and it appears the device for my CDROM is not 'magically'
appearing.. this happened after I was installing GTK and the system
decided to start beeping and crashed (what caused that I have no idea I
have 768megs of EC Ram in the box maybe the MB is a weeny?).
Inspite of all that.. what part of devfsd or where can I find
information on getting devfsd to create the needed REAL links and
symbolic links? The real dev link is gone (for some reason). I really
don't want to reinstall the root partition because the mandrake
(censored) always demands on wiping out /usr (and I'll spend days fixing
there crappy library setup for a developement system).
Wanderer.. pointers directions anything I can use let me know :)
