I would like recommendations on which mount points to make for a network
of RH8 systems. I have one server, and 3 clients. I am running NIS to
share login/password info. I am mounting /home and /opt from my server
to each client. I would like to mount /usr and /lib too I guess, but
when I tried it the machine would not shut down cleanly. It kept
hanging when unmounting /usr.
Also, when I install each machine, it has a /usr created on the local
drive, then I mount the one from the server. How can I then delete the
local /usr (or /lib)
What about /etc? Can I mount /etc from my clients?
Is there any way to synchronize the root userid so that root on one
machine can be root on any machine? (I'm behind a fw and trust all
machines/users)
I would think that this would be a common setup procedure, but I didn't
find a howto! What am I missing?
Thank in advance!
