man pine. Actually that does not answer your question directly, but gives
you a URL where you can find the FAQ that answers your question:
You might need to "allow-changing-from" (which might be disabled by
default) in your main pine.conf.fixed or main pine.conf.
I more simply set my local username same as at my ISP and then just change
my domain to match, along with quell-user-lookup-in-passwd-file (none of
which needs any special main pine config).
