Dear experts,
I have a strange symptom with Redhat Advanced Server 2.1.
When I booted the machine, it hung at the message:
starting atd
It hung for overnight at this place. No message
or anything. Of course, I couldn't get to dmesg.
Fortunately, I could go into another kernel and change things.
cd /etc/rc.d/init.d
mv atd atd_bak
The machine then booted in the normal manner.
I've been reading the man pages about atd.
It seems to be related to cron.
What is atd all about? Is it necessary to have it?
Do you think that it is atd that is hanging, or
some kind of cron job that it is calling?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
