I played with Linux a couple of years ago and had no problem running
the installation script on machines with, say, 64MB. Recently I've
been working with SuSE and love it but there's no way the setup tool
will run in, even though I know I can make the machine do usefull
things as long as I don't expect it to run KDS/Gnome, and related
applications.
Thinking about it, I realize I don't know how to set up a machine from
something close to bare iron, either from CDs or with a fast ftp
connection.
What's the minimum memory Debian needs to run it's console setup app ?
Is there a distro that is particularly good for small-memory machines ?
Thanks
