Get TomsRTBT, a linux floppy distro. Saved me a couple of times.
Get the DOS archive if you dont' have a running Linux.
Put it on a floppy and boot.
then
chroot /dev/hda?
( ? = depends on where you had the root before the crash)( hda1, hda2, hda3
so on )
then run grub again, I use LILO so I can't specify the grub commands right
now.
