SmartPCI561 56k Modem successfully installed but wvdial doesn't work

Hello!

My Modem is a SmartLink SmartPCI561 56k Modem (IRQ11).
It works under Microsoft XP, but not under Redhat 9, kernel is 2.4.20-8.
Already some weeks ago to figure out what i do wrong
- nothing helped :-(. Is there anybody, who could help me??

I have already done:
  installed the driver: slamr.o (from slmodem-2.9.6 package)
  #/sbin/modprobe slamr
  #/usr/sbin/slmodemd --country=GERMANY /dev/slamr0
  output:

modem lamr0' created. TTY is /dev/pts/4'
symbolic link /dev/ttySL0' -> /dev/pts/4' created.
Use /dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination.
