I'm assuming your bad ISOs are the hard disk images -- not the images
burned to CD.

I use Redhat so following may not apply fully.

I've not had good luck with Ga. Tech using my reliable cable modem
connection. Gave up trying and now use something else.

Always defrag a Win disk _before_ downloading distro ISOs. Download
ISOs one at a time and always check md5 sums immediately. I always
watch/check the connection for speed and look for a constant rate. If
it looks fishy, I abort and go elswhere. Sometimes ibiblio, other
times Duke or UNC. Depends on the time of day, day of week also.
These are close to me. Sometimes requires several tries before I get
a clean connection/download -- ie., no interruptions/dropped
connections.

Sites offering http as well as ftp downloads will often relegate an
old clunker for ftp duty -- better speed, reliability with http. Also
suspect that "beginners" maintain the ftp servers -- the http servers
too valuable. YMMV by site.

Doubt you will find any linux distro wrapped in a PAR file -- doubt it
would provide any recoverability in any case.

If you know your connection is flaky, probably best to just buy a disk
set from CheapBytes or some place similar. Or make a new friend.
