Do you mean to do an _upgrade_ instead of an _install_?
I have *never* succeeded at getting an _upgrade_ to work. Fortunately, I
am so paranoid I have always had backup tape drives on my machines, so I
always do a fresh install, and then restore needed files from the backups.
Right now, I have three machines.
This one has RHEL3 ES on it. Tbe next one runs RHL 7.3, and the last one
runs RHL 9. I will probably "upgrade" the 7.3 to 9 sometime soon, but I
have to finish configuring this RHEL3 ES machine first, and getting
programs that did not come with it to install and work. Took about three
weeks to get gnucash to install (needed components from RHL 9 and
Fedora). xosview still does not work. I forced it to install, but it
segfaults most of the time. Current project is to get the iptables
firewall working (works, but not fully tested), and Samba so that when I
run Windows 95 on one machine and Windows XP on the other that this
machine can serve them and offload the print spool to another machine.
