Hi,

I assembled by myself a new computer.
It works except for the APM.

Playing with the bios and the kernel I got
either freeze or kernel panic.

In the best case the APM works but only in the text mode:
no way to get it work automatically under Xwindow.
Strangely under Xwindows the APM work but only if I give

su <password>
apm -S

That is it work only if I issue the command explicitly but not
automatically.

(I also tried the Display power control in KDE with no efffect).

Technical infos:

Motherboard: elitegroup L7S7A2
Grapchicard: club 3D radeon 7000

Linux Slackware 9.1 Xfree 4.3.0.1 (I think)
Xserver: redeon generic or vesa

Any ideas ?
Thanks
Luciano
