I forgot to mention, that Knoppix is based on a Debian system.
I've never tried it, but if you have a Knoppix-CD already,
you could try to hd-install it and then complete installation
of dev-tools/packages via internet.
On the std.-Knoppix Desktop with K there is some menu entry
for getting add. software.
Might be the starting point for net install.
