Most often in RH9 the default firewalls setting will block internet.
So Reset the security level, and make the eth0, i.e., your NIC a
trusted device. If you are on Xwindow you can set it through
start->system settings-> security.
Before this ensure that the NIC is activated, and has a valid IP
number. Check also that you can ping to other machines in your network
(LAN)and vice-versa
