I have this machine (IBM SurePos 500) with 5 serial ports.
I try to run the following command:
/bin/setserial /dev/ttyS4 UART 16550A port 0x2e0 irq 15
but the system replies with: "Cannot set serial info: Invalid
argument"
If I run the same command in RedHat9 it works fine, but there may have
some tweaking of the RH9 image that I don't know about.
file /dev/ttyS4 gives:
/dev/ttyS4: character special (4/68)
IRQ 15 is available (no sec. IDE controller on this machine), and the
problem exists even if I only use the UART parameter.
If I use ttyS3 (or lower) in the example above, I don't get any
errors...
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
Arild
PS: Running stock kernel 2.6.5
