I'm currently running the Fedora Core 2 and it has been the biggest
Linux headache I've ever had (running linux since RedHat 5). I did an
upgrade from FC1, and my wife complained the system was running too
slow, which I admit it was. I went ahead and did a clean install and
now my problems begin. Below is only a small portion of the problems
I've had.
First, it no longer recognizes my onboard sound. Sndconfig
recognizes the chip, but no sound whatsoever. I went out and bought a
new sound card (Soundblaster 16), and once again... no sound. Running
sndconfig again recognizes the new soundcard (kudzu also recognized
it), but still no sound.
Second, my wife and daughter both like KDE, and had to jump
through hoops trying to make it their default desktop. For some
reason, there is no longer a "desktop switching tool" program. I
ended up going through the command line to fix this.
If Fedora is supposed to be cutting edge, I think I'll start
looking for another distribution. My friends tell me Suse works
great. Moving from RH9 to FC1 was not nearly as painful as this has
been.
Any Suggestions?
