log in with the default GUI session hang the computer

    I installed Fedora Core 2 Linux x86_64 on EMachines M6807 (AMD64
    Mobile Athlon) notebook.
    I can log in with the fail safe session/terminal successfully,
    all the linux directories and commands are there.
    However, when I log in with the default GUI session, after typing in
    the userid and password and press <return> key, the computer hangs.
    What is wrong?
    How to fix it?
