Binaries deployment is not easy on Linux ?

Hello all,

Do you think the packaging and deployment of binaries is very easy on linux ?
Why are there so many different ways like gzip, tar, rpm etc. ?
Isnt it possible to have only one easy way ? Which one to choose ?
