HELP: Fedora 2 and internet config

Hello everyone,
I've just installed Fedora Core 2 and I'm a new Linux user; I've red all the
documentation and FAQs, and I was able to configure the modem as 'generic
modem' (internal 56k). The problem is that, after having given all the
necessary data (account, telephone number, login ecc.) to the Internet
configuration wizard Linux gives me an 'error 2' (device not found?) when I
try to connect.
Can anyone give me help please? I'm a newbie as regards Linux, but I like it
and I'd like to surf the net with it. Thank you
