Windows XP (the version under discussion) can reside on a secondary drive
only if the Windows installation is delayed until after the drive has been
moved. For an existing drive with an existing installation of Windows XP,
it *cannot* simply be moved around as was suggested by "imotgm".

Not for a drive with Windows XP already installed on it. Such a Windows
installation made at (Windows C:) /dev/hda *cannot* subsequently be moved
to any other location in the drive assignments.
All the above, most particularly, when advising a newcomer to Linux.
