Dear all, I think this question may be appropriate to your ng, although
the situation is not (really) important it is bugging me.
I've been planning on installing FlightGear-a free software flight sim and
obviosly i would like to use my joystick-A MS Sidewinder Force Feedback
Pro. I wasn't expecting the force feedback to work but i had hoped the
joystick setup would be pretty easy, just a case of inserting modules. I
looked for a HOWTO to find a place to start and couldn't find any i could
see were very relevant so i turned to the kernel documentation and that
directed me to:
modprobe joydev
modprobe ns558
modprobe sidewinder
jstest /dev/js0
First try didn't work, so i attempted to unload all the modules (found
that ns558 does not unload plus i think it's for an ISA gameport)
My system config is thus:
2 Snd cards:
One builton without a gameport (as in the motherboard) VIA82xx
One PCI SB64 with gameport (identified as an ens1370)
Fedora Core 2. (stock kernel with joystick support)
Next thing i will try is disabling the onboard soundcard :-(
Any help?
Cheers.
