Well, I tried that, and lspci still didn't report any additional
Ethernet interface, only the Realtek card.

By the way, the instruction book isn't clear what the "Auto" setting
means for the onboard Ethernet. Could it mean that the interface only
admits to its existence if there is something plugged into it? Otherwise
it pretends it's not there?
