Presuming from your post, your friend is just used to windoze,
there are some special distro for something like this, at least
suse provides IIRC some, exactly made for this. AFAIK
configurable through some nifty click&droll tools, haven't used
them but it should be worth looking at (www.suse.com). Sure those
cost a few bucks and you could have it all for free with any
distro, but this would require some experience.
