Hi,
I'm copying a previous post and the response at the end of this post.
I followed the suggestion from Mark South and have run Knoppix 3.7
on my PC. Things are more or less running fine (I have not gotten the
ethernet to work yet).
Regarding the ethernet, I took a quick look and on Knoppix,
there is not 'connection' for the ethernet, nor is the route
table filled in as yet. In KDE, I tried to add a connection,
but I could not see a way to do it. I did check the devices
and both ethernet devices (one on board the motherboard and
one on an ethernet PCI card) can be seen.
My primary purpose for posting is that
I would like to get Fedora Core 3 running, but I'm not sure
what the next step is. Are there any suggestions?

The first thing I would try in your place is to run some of the LiveCDs,
like Knoppix, Morphix, Ubuntu, Mepis, Slax. And as a real check of your
hardware, try booting Freesbie 1.1. If anything makes those choke, you
have a quick entry to expert mode where you can load a driver at a time,
or run them failsafe and turn on devices one at a time by hand.

Please tell us what happens if you try booting at least Knoppix 3.6 or
3.7. Then it'll be easier to help.
