Newbie Question

OK...just installed Debian on an old pentium computer. I can get all
the programs, ant they seem to work OK--even have the network card
working, but the display is too big for my screen. I can't even get
down to the bottom of the display to click on the yes, no, or cancel
buttons in various windows. In Windows you can right click on an empty
area of the desktop, and get to a configuration screen for the
different resolutions. How do I do that in Linux? Any advice would be
greatly appreciated.
