I have been running ntpd for almost a year, and FC3 for a few months.
I use yum to update every week or two. Lately I have been getting
[failed] on shutdown of ntpd. Sure enough its not running. I start
it by hand, and before I can do a ps -A, its gone.

I just went back to a 2.6.10 kernel, and ntpd runs fine. What is up
    with 2.6.11 kernels and ntpd?
