Hello,

I have a PC with 2 S-ATA (serial ATA) drives. I originally installed Windows
XP on one drive, then disconnected it, connected the other drive, and
installed FC3 Linux on it. I then connected both and and powered on
the computer. The system booted into Linux. I made some modifications
to the grub boot menu and ran grub-install. However, when I reboot, I
am given the option to boot into either Linux or Windows on the grub
boot menu, but then when I select Windows I still can't get Windows
to boot (unless I manually power off the computer, disconnect the
cable that connects the Linux S-ATA drive, and power back on).

So, what I am thinking is that my grub configuration is wrong:
here is what I have in my /etc/grub.conf:

default=1
title Fedora Core (2.6.9-1.667)
       root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.667 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
       initrd /initrd-2.6.9-1.667.img
title Windows XP
       rootnoverify (hd1,0)
       chainloader +1

I am not sure what is wrong with the above configuration. I wonder whether
someone could please help me with this problem so I can then run grub-install
and be able to boot either OS without having to open up my computer's case.

Thanks,

Neil

the Windows OS to boot.
