I'm dealing with a site that has an LDAP server for Linux user
authentication, using the smbldap-tools to configure Windows/Samba
authentication as well for the account management. So far, so good, but I
need to deal with Windows VPN servers using the standard PPTP capability
built into such systems. This means that I either create the accounts
locally on the VPN server itself, which is reasonable, or ease account
management by getting the LDAP/Samba system to manage the "dial-in"
permission for Windows accounts.
But I have no idea how to do that from Samba/LDAP. Has anyone out there done
this, or found that it can't be done? I'm aware that people use Radius and a
dozen other weird tools for this, but don't want to get complex and
integrate Radius on top of the setup unless I have to.
