I have read much about failures of cheaper (high-end consumer class,
about $500) 3ware and other raid PCI-X cards, they don't have mirrored
cache and a bad firmware can also corrupt data.
My main qustions was, how good is the software RAID5 support in Linux
nowadays, is it up such a PCI-X card or better or worse (not talking
about performance here, but reliability only).
