Anything is possible. Why wouldn't it be? The only thing you need is for
your bios to be capable of booting from a usb stick. Is it?

Well, if not, you can try booting from the net instead.

What would one need one for? All you have to do is put linux on a usb
stick (use a kernel with usb support, obviously), place a boot loader
on the usb device (arrr ... there's the rub. Does your boot loader
understand enough to handle it? I guess it would, as it would see
it as a block device and nothing more), and point your bios at it.
