Kino IEEE 1394 subsystem is not responding

Specs: FC4. Download Kino, it compiled ok.

Edit, pref, ieee1394 - "The IEEE 1394 Subsystem is not responding".
And when I try to open an AVI file - ..not a DV. want to inport? OK.
"Failed to load media file."
What am I missing? Thanks
