- OK, when I put it in BIOS, it's fine. (At least for 20 minutes...
usually it would have died by that time.)
- The lights on the keyboard go off when it dies, and caps lock and num
lock don't make them come back on. (If that's what you meant). The
power light is still on, and the CD tray goes out and in, but the
monitor, keyboard, and mouse are being ignored.
- The fans (one for power supply and one for processor) are running,
even in 'comatose' mode.
Nico,
- I didn't scrub the partition, but I don't know if the Debian
installer may have done so.
- I cleaned out the lint, and noticed... <stupid grin> ... I had moved
the computer to a spot right next to a heating vent not long before
this started happening. I didn't even think about heat. *However*, I
moved it a few feet away from the vent, and it still dies.
- I'll try your other suggestions as well and post the results.
