Hmm. I don't have that system in hand: what does "sh -x
/etc/rc.d/init.d/vncserver stop" and "sh -x /etc/rc.d/init.d/vncserver
start" say?
For most systems, VNC is run as a user program, and gets started for example
as the user "root" with a VNC server in their name which would be available
as "hostname:1" to a VNC client.
