I would not buy a creative. As it says it ONLY records and plays in 48K.
Thus anything you get from CD or want to write to CD has to be speed
changed. But speed interpolation is incredibly noisy. Ie, you buy a
soundcard with a 90dB noie floor, run the interpolator and get a 20Db noise
floor instead with distortion.

Same problem AFAIK.
I quite like the Maudio transit, but it has some problems as well. Its
noise and distortion is very low (in 16 bit mode it is about 6dB above the
digitisation floor. In 24 bit mode, it is not much different. )
In th epast it has had problems with the installation of the firmware in
Linux, but I think this is now solved ( I got it for $100 Cdn a few years
ago). But other of the maudio usb cards also seem to be good. The one
drawback is that maudio does not give Linux any help whatsoever. They
regard even their name as a top secret and refuse to divulge it to Linux
(that is only a slight exageration).
