ekiga build problems

I am trying to build akiga and this is the error it gives me....is there a
fix for this or a way around it? I tried installing gnome-data-server for
libebook but that gives me further dependancy errors and those give me even
more dependancy errors and so on.

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables EDS_CFLAGS
and EDS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.

the command i m using to build is :
../configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc && make && make install
