Thanks for the reply. It's a dual Opteron IBM Intellistation A Pro.
Usually snappy stand alone.
BTW, I decided to google for your problem, and it seems a lot of the

I am very curious to see how this resolves because if I understand remote
X correctly, it is just transmits X's instructions for screen drawing
over the network. There should be no specific performance penalty for any
application. That is, it should not be specific to java, etc. The ssh
transport that you are using includes a performance hit, though. BTW,
have you actually run the program directly at the lab for a speed
comparison?

Thansk Doug. Actually, I run at the lab, and I can remote in from my
office over a T1, and its as fast as sitting at the machine pretty
much. It's just over DSL I have the trouble.
