Need tutorial for udev

I am looking for a good tutorial on setting up 'udev'.

I am running Debian testing 2.6.15-1-686-smp and have added two new Sata
drives
and Debian no long uses the correct drive for the root file system. I need
help understanding
how 'udev' controls the devices that are setup at boot time.
