Install Linux on RAID-0 with existing WindowsXP (dual-boot)

Hi
I have Windows XP SP2 installed on a RAID-0(see below for my configuration) and would
like to install Linux on the unallocated disk (dual-boot).
I'm wondering if I install Linux by booting from the Linux CD, will the installer erase
my existing Windows boot record ? Will the Linux installer recognize this is a RAID-0 and properly install OS to the unallocated disk space ? Which Linux distro has better
support for RAID ?
Thanks
David

ABIT AN8 32x (onboard RAID controller)
OCz 2x1GB DDR400
WD 2x 74GB 10,000 RPM SATA Drives (RAID-0)

Disk Partitions
C:\Windows (60GB)
D:\Data (20GB)

Unallocated disk space: (2x74) - (60+20+1+20) = 43GB (will be used by Linux)
