Re: Looking for a linux compatible "disk caddy" for a desktop computer

I'm not sure where I should ask this question. I'm looking for a

called a disk caddy.

I use Databridge super rack. There is a usb version that is hot-swappable and should work fine under linux, although I don't have it. But although the IDE version is also hardware hot-swappable, it will definitely screw up both linux and windows if you do so (the linux kernel has little flexibility in handling IDE devices). The manufacturers supply windows software to fix this, but it messes with windows' head, and some things go wrong from then on even if the software is uninstalled. Accordingly, I only use it to swap disks when turned off, but at that task, it is extremely useful. I take a disk to and from work, and mirror my files onto it, so that my work and home machines are logically a single computer. I used fdisk to make both a FAT and an ext3 partition. Very handy!
