I have Windows XP SP2 installed on a RAID-0(see below for my
configuration) and would
like to install Linux on the unallocated disk (dual-boot).
Why RAID0?
Just curious on how much performance gain that I can get from a RAID-0 with
fast (10000RPM) drives :)
I tought about image backup by adding a cheaper/slower PATA 150GB portable
USB drive, and run TrueImage to clone everything from the 2 fast drives once
a week (since this is just a personal computer, I'm OK to take the risk lose
something ...)
Have you priced 600GB ide drives?
Do you mean regular 7200RPM PATA drives ?
Having a pair of 300GB drives is a hell of a lot cheaper.
twice the storage
twice the performance
Hope I didn't make the wrong decision :( but I spent $320 for 2 WD 74GB
Raptor .... if the performance is pretty much the same (or just a little bit
better) as your configuration ... then I will be really sad .... :(
one half the reliability
.
